Hey all, this one is as much for me as the community.
I've had this little fella since Christmas, he was 4" and taking cut silverside every few days.
Recently he has been eating a medium one every day and today he took mussel, he should start whacking some size on now.
He is learning to tear lumps off now so expect so cool feeding videos in due time.
He was at a lfs for a good few months in a tiny tank so I wouldn't be surprised if he is stunted to some degree.
Need him to hit 7-8" before the 300, mainly due to the evil 6 (full grown spanner barbs) and their harassment/bombardment on new tankmates.
These rarely pass 19" when aquarium grown so let's see how this goes.
Hopefully 18-19" runs true and he can stay in the 300g when he is big.
Currently 5", in with a pair of breeding adult convicts, a pleco Nd two 5" dwarf giraffe cats.
90 gallon.

When that little fella grows he might kill all of them

I doubt it before 7-8" but stranger things have happened. I've kept many redlines and as long as socialised they are fine with tankmates, even 15-25% their size.
The videos on YouTube are fish that have been trained on live food, gradually bumping up the prey size till the will take on anything.
I know it's not advisable but I've commed pleuro, gachua, beleri, platinum, redline and Diplo before.
Had problems with ornatipinnis and auranti.
Channa arnt that dissimilar to wolf fish in my opinion, commed from the start they are usually ok, always exceotions tho.
He isn't aggressive at all, a 3" festivum was bullying him so I removed it. He is food driven, even food aggressive maybe.
If him or my wyckii kick up any real fuss between each other in the 300, one will stay and one will go...

Well if it gets beaten up from anything in the tank while its 7-8 later it ll definitely kill the bully..Personally i ll try my Striata with a wolf (mala) to see if i can handle later my 10’’ in a “community” tank . I hope it can work

Canada eh
Woh what happened? Looks like lots of missing fish here? I’m not seeing the aro or Oscar that used to live here. What did I miss?

This guy is going to be a stunner. Can’t wait to watch the progress of this thread.

Cheers pal, I've outlined it elsewhere pal. Basically someone made an offer I couldn't refuse on the oscar and I've been thinking of a complete change for a while.
I am trying a wyckii and Diplo, mala, Midas, bufonis with spanner barbs.
Mala, Midas and bufonis can move to the 90g tho, probably be 10 million white convicts in there by then tho lmao.
Wyckii is currently 10", Diplo should catch up fast and we can get this moving.
As above a few caves to and mid level wood so there are lots of line of sight breaks.
Not sure if you remember my two year running with a wyckii before. Miss that fish so much.
Ultimately if I end up with just one fish in the tank it will be either the wyckii or Diplo;-)
