Juvenile Synspilum and Texas pics

Thanks for the replies. Just getting back into fish, never kept either of these before and both were at the top of my list. So far there is 1 vote male 1 vote female. Anyone else have an opinion on the sex of either of these fish? When venting the syn the guy at the shop thought it was male due to the color is was showing when they had it in the display tank, Syn is currently about 5inches, At what size would some more tell tale signs of its sex be noticeable? eg pointed fins and bump on head?
Both fish are a little skittish and the syn pretty shy and will hardly take food from the surface.

Loved the Texas... nice blue hue on him...nice pearls...feel it will grow to be a stunner... how big a tank aare they in...any other tank mates
Thanks, at the moment these they are only fish in a 40gal grow out tank. I an very aware that this tank is to small for these fish in the long run and it is only tempoary. They are just in the 40 gal until i set up my 125 in a month or 2. Hopefully with in the next year i will get and 8 footer

Looks like a female tube to me.
Wondering what to look for between male and female tubes?

I was was kinda also thinking it might be female due to the rounded dorsal fin. Bit of a shame as I eventually want an all male tank, ohh well I'm sure this syn will colour up nicely anyway

Female tube will be fatter and pointed downward. The males is more pointed and usually angled toward the back.

The carpintis looks male to me.the snys are tough.the tube pic you shared looked pointy so i say male.also blue eyes on synspilium can indicate male.nice pickups!
