I went over to my cousins house the other day and found out that my uncle being the impulse buyer that he is decided to go to the fish store and buy a 2inch jardini because his coworker has one and he also wanted one. he has it in a 120 wide (4x2x2) that used to house a flower horn that he sold. he asked me for help but ive never taken care of jardinis let alone arowanas in general so im asking you guys for help. my questions are...

i know most if not all juvi fish are quite fragile so is there any special care we should be doing?

is the small jardini fine in the 120 gal? or should he put it in a smaller tank so they aro can find food easier?

the guy at the lfs told him to keep feeding the aro feeders til it got big enough to pellet train. ive never delt with juvi aros but this doesnt really seem like the right diet for the aro. any suggestions?

the 120 is being filtered by 2 ac110s. is the current too much for the aro? should he scale back to just 1 ac110?

i know the 120 isnt big enough for life and he wants to know how long the aro can stay in the 120 until he has to upgrade and what tank size is enough to house the aro for life?

my uncle has grown quite attached to the fish already so id like to try my best to make sure the aro gets the required care. any help is appreciated.

Tell him to try flake food if he can get him to take it thats half the feeding battle right there. Get em off live earlier it makes pellets way easier. And water quality seems to be key for them when they are that small i do 50% twice a week but my little guy is in a 55.

well according to my uncle the aro ate like 6 guppies and is starting to mouth aro sticks broken in half so hes gonna keep trying with that. i told him to drop 1 guppy then drop an arostick so the aro would hopefully get used to the pattern lol

wow some of the people on here kill me. i suppose flake food wont satisfy my angelfish or the 2 baby tsn's that eat the **** as soon as it hits the water. soon it'll be a 120 gallon tank is too small for a 2inch aro. any way i realize that it cannot be a staple for a fish that is going to be a decent size but for some reason i have had alot of luck using flake then to pellets with multiple fish.

they do indeed but if i can say a variety of fish foods are good like bloodworms, flakes, granules, pellets etc but id say feeders arent necessary..they can cause things like HITH disease..IMO this is my 2cents

but to answer the question id say the 120G is fine with AC110's ..and try training it on pellets and cut them in half and see if it takes it...but thats all i can answer there should be some true aro experts here soon..but good luck to your aro man hope to see pictures!

Mehh, take it how you will. Just saying, things will be a lot smoother if you skip the useless crap and go straight to stuff that is actually going to pack some weight onto your aro. The whole point in pellets and everything else is to get your aro out of that 2" zone so you cut your risks. if you like feeding flake and prolonging that risk period then so be it.
