Cool i will have to look in future years:grinno: as i really want one
i used to own a Bulgarian Shepherd Dog i got it from my grandpa when he passed away it was kinda cool having it but it only lasted 2 years as it got hit by a car:( don't really know what happened.
My grandpa was obessed with the bigger dogs he always used to like them but i wish i still had that dog it was the coolest pet i ever had i was 6 at the time so it used to tower over me:nilly:
but it was so cool best pet i will ever own (untill i get the kangal dog:D).

Akblue I will look into your question soon as I don't really know that many bloodlines.
As for Militis you are to get one you should tell the breeder if your want the ears croped. As they usually are and they end up looking like a bear.

Akbash and anatolian shepherd is really the same breed. They are all regional types of the same breed.

The ears are cropped, because they are easily damaged whille fighting.

You see many Kangals in pounds in Holland and Belgium. Many Turkis immigrants bring puppy's with them from turkey and then they can't handle them in a city. They are often to protective and to indepent for densly populated area.

There is a program in holland that raises kangalpups for african tribes. The dogs help protect the lifestock, so the big african predators rather choose wild prey over lifestock.

very interesting thread and great interesting large dogs.. they are beautiful.. what is the life span of one these huge breeds of dogs.. the kangal is gorgeous face .. and the alambia a big teddy bear.

I like the akbash too but I would rather get the alabai.
Heres so pics of akabashs with croped and uncroped ears, all large sizes.
