Let's be fair, no one can compare to Rick Astley, not even Kanye "I'm bigger than Jesus" West. That's comparing apples to shotguns, Apples (Kanye) might taste good, but shotguns (Rick Astley) will blow you away, literally.

so you're saying they should sell them selves out instead to their fans and critiques by altering the way they play/sing/dance or what ever they do? I think these artists should play what they believe, I'm sure if they no one likes them anymore they're still multimillionaires who can live of their earnings. the lowest thing on earth is selling yourself out to your fans or who ever. to be honest, if they were your fans they would still be loyal and would not care if it was not the same as 'music' this day.

for the record I didn't vote because I'm apathetic towards Kanye, I haven't heard him for months, I don't watch TV and don't listen to the radio. Only way I get info on 'music gossip' is over hearing conversations by 'gangstaa' kids at school.

NO.....I dont think they should sell themselves out....this is jus what music has turned into nowadays, this is how the music industry operates....face it...times change and this is not jus happening in rap....rock and alternative sucks nowadays....im so sick of this damn POP music I dont know wat to do....Miley Cirus, Hillary Duff, Lindsey Lohan, Britney Spears, etc.....a bunch of GARBAGE....IMO....but am I forced to listen to it...NO...so i dont...to each his own...everyones different...

I have to agree with Sevendreamz all the way. It's not like a decade or two back where everyone was talented(IElaying their own instruments, writing their own songs,doing what they believed not giving a s@#t about what other people thought of it), not just a decent singer having ya music written and played for you to make a buck!!!

its called a record label... any artist signed by one does it.. at some point.

they do what they are told by who pays them... until they get big enough they can do it on their own....

TBH, Kanye has metamorphed into something all his own. He is un like anyone else. And hardly a rapper at all. He is an entertainer 1st, media mogul 2nd, weirdo 3rd.

he can really rap when he wants too but i agree with ur first part of ur post.

The day I heard him butcher one of my most favorite Daft Punk songs, that was it.
I can't here that song now without wanting to stab my ears with spoons.

As far as that goes, in my opinion Daft Punk are one of the greatest Electro artists period. They worked with Kanye on that song and it came out great.
They mixed up the beat, threw more lyrics to it and in my opinion out did the original.
