I did and it is great. Open many more possibility. more easy to get your lure back when you hook it on the water ground (sorry or my english i am french). It is better to fight the fish and nobody will anoy you when you are fishing.
It has its perks and negatives. Perk is that its easier to retrieve your fish and when you hit a big one they can pull you around lmao. negatives. can be a pain to land fish and they can pull you around lol
Its very nice. especially since you can stop paddling and quietly sneak into areas, and use your hands are paddles to move you around. i enjoy it quiet a bit, kind of a pain fly fishing out of it though but i make it happen.
Thanks for the replies! I've been checking out the Hobie Outback and it looks awesome! The way I see it, a kayak is a lot easier to transport to/from the fishing spot (on top of an SUV) and a lot easier to store in a garage than a jon boat. My only real concern is the stability of a kayak while reeling in a big fish. The place I mainly fish is a reservoir and it wouldn't be a good thing to capsize in it, haha.
One thing I forgot to mention, the pedals on the Hobie would allow one to handle the fishing rod with the hands while using the pedals with the feet to position the kayak. The pedal system would also eliminate the splash of paddles.
Got $200 off with their big sale. I still haven't been able to find a bad review on this kayak. Apparently the specially shaped hull is very stable for fishing.
I can't wait to get out on Saturday and give it a shot.
