keep out preditors

Hi, I have had to use a cage trap to take care of the coons at my pond. I have also had gray herrings try and eat my fish. I bought a net that goes over my pond and it took care of the problem with them. I have also had muskrats living in my pond for one summer. It was very intertaining. They would swim around like they were putting on a show for me. They do not eat fish so all was good. I hope this helps. I have had my pond for 10 years. If you have other issues with wildlife and I can help, just let me know.

my grandpa put a low electric fence around his garden to keep away coons and other small animals

idk if its a good idea for an electric fence around a pond lol but any other fence a raccoon would climb over

Hey Martina!
Fencing is good for helping with the raccoons but does little against birds. Not sure how deep you're thinking of making the pond but some extra depth can help your fish escape any would be predators. I have a 9 foot deep pond which allowed my fish to escape from hawks and other predators; they just dove deep and escaped. Best of luck to you.,.you'll figure it out!

I got a motion activated sprinkler a while back when
Raccoons and herons were picking off my fish. I would turn it on at night and it worked pretty well. It would send a strong blast of water in a huge arc when it detected something. It stopped the raccons and birds

For coons and foxes use traps, they will go for the easy meal 9/10 times and for birds my grandparents used fishing line tied and looped around poles at random intervals all around the pond, apparently it freaks the birds out before they land plus its less obtrusive then a full net
