phoenix tropical imo knows the most about fish out of all of the lfs i've been to in az. Charles is the person i aways talk to and he knows alot about fish. everyone worker in phoenix tropical has alot of tanks of their own. Charles has a pond with clown knives, silver arowana, peacock bass and other monsters, he also has alot of smaller tanks with different fish. the owner of the store has a huge 1000 gallon aquarium with monsters. the workers are aways friendly, and they have helped me with treatments when my fish get sick. they also know what they are talking about when you ask them questions about fish. for more community fish, you could go to fins and friends at 16th street and bethany home road. for more monster fish theres tropical treasures at 30 avenue and bell road (their tanks are overstocked, but they always have monsterfish)

Charles is a moron, he does'nt know his fish at all... I haven't been there in a long time but Nick was always the best guy to talk to. He knows his fish and never over sold anything he was also way into the predatory species and kept lots of big fish.. But by far the best person to talk to would be the owner Toni, shes hard to keep interested unless you plan on spending a bindle tho.. So if you go to Phoenix Tropical go to Toni, or Nick

well charles and some other guy (maybe nick) are great when i talk to them. charles has told me about his experiences with his monster pond, he also listens to me when i have a problem with my tanks. he also every-so-often wonders what i have in my tanks because i get so many new fish

Toni is a really money person. i asked if they could get any hujeta gars in because mine needs friends.
they got some in and they want $100 for one..... i paid $20 for mine that's the same size. i asked the other guy who i talk to alot why they were so high and he said "i dont know the owner put that price, but if you get both of them i can knock $40 off the price"

i still wont take the hujetas

Hey guys I just moved to Queen Creek Az and I been to all those stores you guys named and I like Phoenix tropical the best for fish and fish knowledge. Ocean floor is so overpriced that its ridiculous they had a fx5 for $499.00

Anyone from tucson? If you think phoenix is bad, then you havnt been to tucson. I have been to all those stores in phoenix as well. I think phoenix tropical is over priced and was kinda scared to go in. Ocean floors was cool just to walk around and see all the tanks with the huge fish in them. There fish are over priced as well unless you use their coupons. I like pets inc probably the best, they have really clean tanks and all the fish look healthy, but they dont always have the most variety. I pretty much think every fish store in phoenix is over priced! I guess I am spoiled from the fish stores they have in my hometown of Buffalo. I would have to say that almost every fish cost twice as much to buy in arizona than in buffalo, ny.

hey guys what's going on? im moving to apach junction in a few month's and i see that there are not many fishkeeper's out there as newyork city! i live out there for a while with my girlfriend and ive been to alot of the lfs including pets.inc i agree that they are over priced but the tank's are clean and very few dead fish in the tank's but they do their best but it's not like the big apple!!!!

I'm AZ as well Cave Creek Area, but what sucks here is the closest thing to "Local" for me is Tropical Treasures and there all the way out on Bell Rd. they got a good selection (occasionally) but their main downside is there preatty expensive and there small.

Lot of ppl think the fish hobby is well how can I say..... Dry here which it is. But one things for sure we're good for is that we have really alkaline water out here which could be good for those who like keeping Cichlids.

But on that meeting thing I say yeah we should do it! Just where do you guys propose?

I am located in Payson, and yes the fish selection is not great especially up in the mountains where there is no where to buy quality fish. I have been in contact with a couple of members of an Aquarium Society in Phoenix; Dry Wash Aquarium Society, but the contact is intermittent and I am not able to come down from the mountains to the meetings. This coming summer will be alot better since I will have more time off.
