Keepers of oscars in 55's

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
and if some people are saying that oscar need a huge tank, in part that is true, people dont need to run out and buy a 75 or a 125 when they get a baby oscar from the lfs, thats crazy, as they grow, the tank should grow with them so that thye are comfortable, kinda like clothes for us humans, would anybody be comfortable in the clothes they wore when they were growing up? even if they were still able to be put on, holding your breath, sucking in the gut, and they would be a little short!!

then dont sell oscars where you work, buy them all for yourself and raise then correctly, you can change what people are going to do, if they are not responsible, not your fault, ever watch animal cops? all animals and pets are mistreated,

55G is enough space for a single full grown Oscar....Only problem is he is going to alone in there....I notice a lot of people who own Oscars don't know what they require. And that is a lot of tank maintenance and a good diet.

Haven't worked there for years, but you always remember the idiots. However, I do have to hear the daily stories from my wife who manages at Petsmart. Buy them all and raise them correctly? Sarcasm doesn't win arguements. All animals and pets are mistreatd? Grow up. My animals live better than I do, and I'm not doing too bad. I bet a large majority of the members here would have a strong disagreement with you as well. ;) I still don't see how you people can justify putting an animal in a home smaller than it is! That's like putting you in a permanent room that only has 5' ceilings, and you're 6' tall! Sure you can bend, but is it comfortable? NO.

Irony.

i didnt mean every single animal, i ment that its not just oscars, even people are mistreated, and if you read my posts correctly, i agree that a 55 should only be a temporary home, as i have 2 big oscars myself that went from a 45 to a 55 to a 75 and i just got home from picking up a 125 for them, so we are on the same page here. all of my pets are spoiled rotten, soooooooo to answer the question in the first post of this thread, they can only be kept in a 55 comfortably when they are small thank you

Ahh, I gotcha now. The whole post wasn't directed at yours, but the thread as a whole. You confused me, because I agreed with you, then I thought you were turning around and saying the opposite. :grinno:

This is a great way to look at it, this is how I try to 'compare'. Exactly.
I sure wish people would do it that way instead of the out-dated "inch per gallon" rule.
