keeping 1 Oscar 2 severums 4 platinum blood parrots in a 120?

Might be a good idea to get a king kong parrot and 3 other similar sized similar aggressive cichlids, one of each, to have nice mix of colors.

I pretty much agree with everything Neil and Duane have said. Like Duane, I'm also a bit of a purist snob so the parrot would not be my first choice.
I agree with Neil that the tank would be ok for the Oscar on its own.
I think any thing else you try with the severum and the parrots without the Oscar, stands a fair chance of working. I would still be prepared for the chance for things to go wrong also.
Severum are generally described as quite peaceful. This is not my experience. I've had many over the years, all in quite large tanks, over 180 gallons. I may have just been unlucky but most of mine have been very aggressive.
Cichlid keeping can be trial and error even if the right advice is followed.
All I would suggest is have a back up plan and a divider just incase things go pear shaped.

Hello all, if you can't tell im new to keeping large fish. iv been in the hobby about 15 years but never kept any thing that gets more that 7 inches. I have a 120 and I want to know if it would be safe(from a tank size point) if I could keep 1 Oscar, 2 severums and 4 platinum blood parrots in a 120? I understand cichlids can be "grouchy" and it depends on the individual fish and what not. I just don't know from a tank size point of view. I was also curious on what pleco I could keep with this set up that isn't a common pleco don't want a monster pleco thanks all stay safe. P.S I understand a lot of controversy around the bloods but I don't care my grandmother kept them while I was growing up and they are the fish that got me in the hobby. please don't give me grief on them.

If you wanted to keep all the fish I'd say spring for a 125, put the oscar (and maybe a pleco) in that. The parrots and severums in the 120.

A word of caution: the parrots may not all get along as they get older...plus, depending on their genetics they can get hefty. If the 2 sevs are a pair that's another mess with cichlid aggression. I ended up with multiple tanks because of fighting as my parrots grew. Best case scenario I'd say one Sev, 4 parrots in the 120. The parrot ultimate size will be the wildcard. Unfortunately they trend more aggressive as they grow, it seems.

My severum was very aggressive and it ultimately cost him against my oscar.
