So i got a 150 gallon and i was gonna set it up in my basement that isnt finished. I was gonna set it up near my workout area but not close enough where a accident could happen. Not allowed to set it up on the upper levels. My big question is about the temp ina basement. It can be cold down there and i dont want the tank to be cold but i also dont want to run the electic bill up with a space heater or tank heater always running. Will the tank be ok down there and will the heat source need to run all day to keep heat up?

You could consider a cold water tank like some big fancy goldfish. Or if you wanna go nuts and add some current and some super airation you could go al out and do trout. I say some big brookies would be awsome.

Insulate the tank. Use foam board, cut to size add to sides and back and bottom. Helped my electric bill.

im gonna stick my tanks temp gauge in the basement for 15 mins to get a temp reading for you guys

What type of heating system do you have?I live in an older home with an oil fired heater that warms the water that goes through our radiators. My tanks are also in our unfinished basement and in the winter, the room temp in the basement does'nt dip below 65 and the heater and the warm pipes give off some warmth.Your tank heater may be able to keep the water comfortable for your fish.

well if u ask me i believe the temp down there is probly 65 or 70 maybe. I'll get a reading tomar

You'll be fine. Do it.
