I am thinking of getting an 18" Merodontotus tigrinus and adding it to my 500g which has a similar size TSN.

Are these two fish compatable?

I have heard that Tigs are hard to keep and that they die easily, which makes me nervous about spending alot on such as fish.

Does anyone care to share their opinions on Tigs and their needs?

TSN are pretty bullet proof but what about keeping Tigs and TSN together??
Is it a good combo?

It won't work for long. You TSN is going to outgrow that tig very quickly and you're going to be serving a shockingly expensive dinner. My TSN 32" TSN just shredded a 24-26" ID shark. Some TSN are more docile than others, but I'm not sure I'd risk such an amazing specimen.

Tigs aren't hard to care for except maybe when they're juveniles. Since the one you'd be getting is 18" already it should be no prob. But, I don't think they can be kept with a TSN. They don't get nearly as large and aren't very big in diameter. I think the TSN will quickly outgrow the Tig and slurp it down like a piece of spagetti.

I spoke to the guy today who I am buying the fish from and he told me the fish has been moved interstate via areoplane several times so he believes it will be fine.
As for price!! I have negotiated $2900 including freight for the Tig and a 50cm Adonis.
I am kind of nervious as this is alot of beans to be spending and I am waiting for pics to be sent of both fish before I go ahead.
I will post the pics of the fish when I get them.

you mean 290? not 29000. jut to make sure.

Well, I assume he's not getting an 18" tig and 20" adonis pleco for $290. Not sure where he's having to ship them to, but shipping large fish correct is NOT cheap.

$2900 for both I am not that rich!!

He wanted $3400 so I think I did O.K.
I am wanting for the pics before I go ahead.

you guys are funny i have both as well as many other large catfish worth having i've had tsn cat for a year and my tig just under a year and they live together and actual hang together so as long as you feed your fish and have enough space its all good trust me oh and i've had my tig since it was a baby got it from infin aquatics i also gooch, piraiba, and a flash cat they are easy to care for as long as you do water changes that the kill of young or older tigs or and bottom feeders guys do more water changes and medicate your water or invest in uv
