Keeping CLs with other loaches

I know that Clowns like to be in groups but I don't really think I have the tank space to do a large group of them and was wondering if my CL would pal around with yo-yo loaches if I got a group of them. any thoughts or suggestions?
 
From what I know, they will be quite happy in a group with Yoyos.
 
How big is your tank? I've seen the two sold in stores together..
 
IME they don't really school together. Probably because I have the clown loaches in a big group while the yoyos in a smaller group. You could try it but IMO they really should be with their own kind in a proper sized tank or might as well give them up to someone who can give that to them.
 
a 75 would hold a smalller sized group of loachs for a WHILE. When they get to big for your 75gal ill swing over and pick them up :)
 
When I had one clown with a bunch of yoyos they all hung out together, when i had a bunch of yoyos and one clown, they hung out together. When I had group of each, they seemed to have more divide. It was quite interesting.

All I've got in there is a senegal bichir and two small cichlids so it's nowhere near overstocked yet.

and that's the answer I was looking for! Cuz I have one clown loach, think he's awesome, but I want some friends for him for optimal health.

I think the yoyo's in general fight more amongst themselves the clowns ever did- might have been a by product of too few of them though.
