keeping large mouths

Just wanted to put a list of everything I have kept LMB with that are tropical fish

RTC
TSN
S Planiceps
Peacock Bass
Oscars
Jaguars
Dovii
Festae
Midas/RDs
Red Bay Snook
Plecos
Severums
Pacu

and I think thats about it.. Still have the LMB and have had him at tank temps from 70-85 degrees and he has been absolutely fine.

Why does everyone think LMB are too big to keep? They're a lot easier to keep than those 6-8ft arapaimas some of you have, and they only grow fast if kept at higher temps(75F+) and fed a ton. It would take a year to grow it to 12". If given fluctuating temps throughout the year it would take even longer. Even if there was only a 5F drop in temp during the winter. Besides, if it does get big, I'm sure someone with a private pond would love to have it in the pond for fishing, just as long as the pond isn't connected to any streams/rivers/etc.

If you can't keep LMB because of size, get a redeye or Suwanee bass, or even a bass-like sunfish, like a green sunfish or a warmouth.
