Keeping monster cichlids in glass tanks...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah, leave the blue film on it that they ship it with, don't fill it up, and set it in a corner....lol.

I'm sure there is something, but I imagine it would mess with the visibility of the tank, and it STILL might get scratches any way.

If you line the inside with glass it would be more scratch resistant:)

rally, how much of a ***** was it to move that 265? Standard Perfecto tank?

Anything over 150gal that is glass is going to require MULTIPLE people to move. Its one of those things you try to only do one time....

if the glass is more then 3/8ths inch thick you will be totally fine

It was easy as hell actually. It took 1 person on each corner of the tank and it was literally simple to move. My brother in law and I moved his 180 glass tank into his house and didn't have any issues. for the 265 it was me, him, eh1421, and another friend. It was much less work than the 180 move, and the 180 was pretty easy.

When I helped repair move his 2200..........that's a different story LOL .

See above.
JD_man and I moved his 180 into his house with no issues at all.

Glass is heavy as hell !!!!

it took 4 of us to get the 220 down the steps(390 pounds). with the thinkness of the glass i don't think i have to worry about any fish breaking it.

I will say that going down stairs is a different story, but that's where you can let gravity help:D Make a rig to slide it down lol.
