First off MN_Rebel is right, it counts to your limit if you keep fish (I also live in MN)
HOWEVER if your a loser like me and you only fish to stock your tank, your not worried about keeping your limit because you wont be fishing again anytime soon, at least not to keep the fish :)

Heres the deal, you can do that and keep a northern however you should just be aware its going to turn into a big beast and it is possible it's going to destroy the other things it is with (eventually)

All that being said, I say do it! Give it a try!

I've caught big Northerns during the summer right under the dock when the water was VERY warm. So I'd say that as long as you go it slowly you'll be fine. As for the arowana... ehh Its worth a try as long as it isnt an aro you dearly love. Because they would be a pretty unbeatable combo once full grown. If I were you I would go with a pike and a gar though seeing as they both behave rather similary and would look SICK in a good size tank or pond.. I've unsuccesfully tried to keep northerns before. They really don't like over active tankmates and will even be intimidated out of eating by an over-active tankmate.

Northern Pike here live in water just above freezing to 80 degrees.

If it moves a Pike will eat it, even if it doesnt move at warmer temps a Pike will eat it!!

I would never put a Pike in with anything you want to keep.

I have been tempted to put in small Pike with my larger Gills, but after watching them while fishing this past summer theres no way....
