Is there anything I can do to keep nitrate levels down besides constant water changes. Will a wet/dry filter help?

I currently have 2 xp3's on my 100 gallon with 12 fish in it. I have high levels every 2 days.

I have 7- 4 inch Jardini, 2 4inch blood parrot chiclids, 2- 2 inch clown loaches, 2 3.5 catfish, 2 4 inch snowflake chiclids, 2 electric yellow chiclids

Which make 17 fish in a 100 gallon tank.

Just need a little time till I get my 180 long tank - 96" x 30" x 24" and then all the Jardinis will go in that tank.

96 x 30 x 24 is a 300 gallon tank.

For now try to reduce feedings, make sure there is not alot of uneaten food. Also your nitrate levels will increase as your fish grow, but getting the Jars into the new tank will help reduce the WCs on the 100g but now you'll also have to do WCs on the new tank to.

I like rallys set up for the drip system water changer, think I'm ganna do one on my 180g.

Oops! I made a mistake the correct dementions for the 180 long is 95 x 18 x 24

RO also have nothing to do with nitrates. Water changes, less food, and fast growing plants....if you have adequate lighting put some fast growing floating plants in there ( elodias, etc... )

What about Reverse Osmosis filters. They are good for delivering pure water.

Unless you have a high amount of nitrates in your tap water the R/O filter will not help you with your nitrate levels in your tank.

Regarding your tank, the 8 foot tank is great I have a 150g that is 3" shorter then that 180 you are getting. In the long run though you would be better off getting a tank that is at least 24" deep/wide for those Jars. the Jars are gonna get big and will have a hard time turning around in a 18" tank. A standard 180g 6' x 2' x 2' would work better for ya.
