What lake was this?SSmokinn SS;4756344; said:this year I caught a 40" northern in the local lake up here in upstate NY. The lake is only 21' deep, at its deepest point and this year we had a VERY hot summer. The water temps were 75-78 degree's. I landed this guy in 4 feet of water, on a mid 80* summer day. He was in 78 degree water.
Basically, a chiller isnt necessary. These fish are adapted to deal with water temps as low as 20* and obviously warmer then 80*.
however, I dont recommend keeping them as pets. They deserve to be the local killing machines nature intended them to be.
