Aquired a rope fish, have it with senagals and a fire eel.Just curious as how to best keep these beautiful creatures.Do they prefer their own tube to hide in like some knifes? All experience welcomed.

Thank You

mine never hides.. except for finding a cozy cornor to perch in.. they are awesome and congradulations on the pic up..ropefish are great and lots of action once they are aquainted with the tank.. i have mine in with two bichirs.. they all get along great.. i feed the rope fish frozen brine and frozen krill and bloodworms.. i think he also eats some of the small particles left behind from the bichirs pellets.. enjoy!

mine hides alot but comes out when it gets dark or when i put food in there cool fish but try the polypterus section this thread should be there it will get alot more posts if its there

i noticed that if they dont feel safe they will hide non stop, when i had a SMB in my tank he was always hiding, after the SMB died and was out of the tank my rope never hides and is always out

Rope fish do not need a tube like a knife fish
knife fish emit a small electrical pulse to help them find their way

Rope fish are neat - mine buzz bombs around the tank with little thought to what he is doing.

I call him George because he flies around like George Jetson

you have probably heard this before but what size is your tank? You will need a tank of at least 180 gallons at the min once the grow so more.
