So whats the best method for avoiding them ? I wipe down the outside and inside of my glass tanks all the time are there some products better than others that anyone can suggest
I always used an acrylic mag float for cleaning the inside and stay away from the substrate so that you don't pick up any sand or gravel.
I think i have some of those some where.Use a light cloth. I use those sham wows that you used to see on tv. If your scraping algae use an old gift card or something plastic
You won't scratch it that easily it still takes an effort. You can use those plastic scrubbers on it without scratching.I think i have some of those some where.
Is the acrylic as delicate as i am making it sound ? I mean can i give yhe outside a good wipe down as if it were glass just with a softer cloth ?
Nope, this is what I used: http://mightymagnets.com/floatingAndFlatFloating.htmlNo swirlies or scratch with it ?
I've gotten away with using one of these without scratching but that's probably the limit to what I would use. Any harder material will scratch. No cloth will scratch unless you get sand stuck in it. It's not as easy as you think, my old 360 gallon got scratched to s*** because of all the sand and rock I had in the tank when I removed it. Other then that I only got a few near the bottom where sand would get in my cloth

It's pricey but it worked for me.
Make sure you put cloth under the magnets though the ones they give you scratch the tank. They are crap. Yes nothing worse then kids grimy little fingersIm worried about my daughters lil paw prints dont know what that kid is playing with but i literally have to buff them off the glass tanks
Considering what i spent on the tank it seems worth it thanks D
