I just picked up a 405 gallon tank and since its size 84Lx36Wx31H and its heavy as hell, I cant put it in the basement or threw a door with out tearing the door out or it apart, so it will be set up in the garage. so I was just wondering what some of you guys do during the winter to it if your garage is not heated. Mine seems to stay around 50 degrees in their during the winter time.

I do not have that problem, my problem is the 110 degree weather.

I have kept tanks in my garages for years, I live in a different enviroment than you though.

Fifty degrees hugh?If your tank heaters cant keep the temp up maybe you could use a kerosine heater.

i have to think that a room's interior temperature, be it hot or cold, does play a major role in keeping an aquarium system's temperature stablized.

tarp off that section of the garage and run a space heater every here and there as well as the heaters from the tank. you could also build a "closet" around the tank.

thats a prety good idea

an environment with a centralized heating and cooling system would make the task of stabllizing an aquarium's temperature, much easier. Cold and heat in a garage would be difficult taks.

wow this is like dejavu. i just setup my 405g tank in the garage too  link is in my sig :)
