I use that temp if im Salt and heat caring for fish...
Anyways back on topic, M.Carfi, I do have sump but the overflow dies after 10 minutes or so, so I do not want to put the heaters in there until it's working properly. I think somethings wrong with the check valve. It seems to suck air in after a little while.[/QUOTE]
Setting up the sump can be a pain for me sometimes cause I'm always doing a wackey setup.
One thing that has saved me alot of head ache is drain the sump. Then Fill the tank to just under the overflows line. Then fill the sump to where you want the water line to be. So that when the pump is on it will only pump the amount it spills. Now to quiet it up from gurgling your gonna have to tune the right mix inside the overflow. I would say start half way from the drain and go up from there, depending on the size of the pump, sump, tubing and how many bulkheads you have. You may just get away with having it right under the drain in the overflow.

blankets are great for keeping tanks covered up on cold nights.. hit up outdoor/camping stores and get a picnic blanket... they are soft and fluffy on one side and plastic/rubber/whatever lined on the other...
a blanket/towel that happens to touch the water by accident (cats are good for causing this issue) will very cuickly "wick" water all over the floor..

I may have to build a new overflow today. I got a new check valve and for some reason I cannot get it to prime well. It'll run for 30 seconds and then die. I put a Emperor Power 350 on just to get some circulation and filtration going. The poor fish in there....
Just keep the bubbler going and keep changing the water until you get it straight....they will be ok.
The overflow is built into the tank right? or is it a hang on the back type.
If it's built into the space inside the tank then try putting some type of diffusion on the drain in the overflow.....like a sponge tube that fits around the drain. If I'm understanding you correctly ,I know what you mean and it's a real pain to deal with, I've had this prob before.

No, but It's not enough alone, just do 10 gallons a day change until it's functional.
Ok, if it's on the side and it's drying up I'm wondering if it's deep enough and I'm also questioning the length and diameter of the syphon. Like not enough weight in the suction to keep the exchange going, I'm not 100% sure the breathers check valve is the culprit although I hope it is for an easy fix.
I do hope the new overflow does the trick though.
