how do you guys keep your tank cool during hot summer days ??? my 130g 6ft tank has 2 heaters in it (250watt) both were set on 81deg but since it has gotten so hot here ive turned em down to 78 that didnt work with the heaters being on and the hot days outside tank got up to 84-85deg..., so i unplugged em for the last 2 days and the tank has been sitting at 82deg, also did a water change today with a bit cooler water to try and bring the tep down but naw..... so today i have the lids open (third day for this as well) and both heaters unplugged and staying steady at 81-82deg.... my sliding glass lid completly seals the top doesnt leave any space really to let heat escape

should i just leave it with the heater off, lids open, and keep a eye on the temp ? or what do you guys do... i even have the central air on and thats doesnt seem to do much for it lol ....

They should be fine with temps in the mid 80's. But if you're worried about it, you could just lower the water level, remove the lids, and run a fan over the tank to cool it down.

well right now i have the heaters off, the glass lids open on the front, and have been leaving them open during the night but not enough for fish to flop out lol ... and also have been leaving my t5ho light off as well....even have 4 powerheads in the tank to circulate everything and stays steady at 82 so far.... i like my tank to be 80-82deg ... how hot is the limit for when i should start to worry ?

I'm not sure what the exact limit would be, but during the summer before last, my 225 got up to 86F (didn't have a functional thermometer in the tank, so I didn't realize the temp was rising so much until I felt the water while doing a water change), but all of the fish were fine.

holy smokes... hmmm maybe i wont have to use my heaters at all this summer maybe then ....

Over here where summers are on average 28 - 30'C i leave my heaters off... And when home turn the A/C on and leave the lids open if the tank get too hot...
