Kelberi 2"

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
just got my 5. they showed a lot of interest in bloodworms but did not put them down. and these things are so young I cant wait much longer before I need to get something in their stomach

Just wanted to add to the conversation on growth. Of all the species I've had, the kelberi have by far been the least aggressive, slowest growing and mild mannered at dinner time. When I first received them they were in with piquiti, the piquiti were by far the smallest of the three species I had but easily out ate and out grew the kelberi in just a matter of 3-4 weeks and eventually had to be seperated because they were just too large and boisterous for the kelbs.

To this day my kelberis simply wait until dinner is in the tank and I've stepped back before even trying to eat. They are not aggressive feeders at all.

that is a very true statement from the first batch when I got one Kelberi. I now have 5 from the newest batch at 2" and they seem different in behavior. they reacted well to the bloodworms but did not digest them. they are so small that I had to get guppies b/c i was afraid another day with my work schedule and they would be in bad shape. they are very aggressive to the feeders and everyone is eating well. I went with 5 kelberi only because of the fact that their behavior is much different then most peacocks, which is fine with me. they are unique and I think will do very well together. I would love to have nice big kelberis with no aggression issues.

Please enjoy the pics and notice the great colors at this small of a size. One thing I am excited about is getting this species at such a small size and getting them acclimated to tank life and food early. I hope to have early bloomers instead of late starters.

Just had to share. :) woot!

Thanks Jeff!

Congrats dude.. im jealous! lol..

Very nice. :) Mine picked at the frozen bloodworms, but also didn't really eat any. They are a bit small and hungry looking, so I had to get some food in their stomachs as well. They definately ate guppies with gusto.

Except for one, who gives chase, but then gives up. maybe he's a vegetarian. <shrug> Hopefully he'll have at a few sooner or later, as the other 4 are chowing down.
