Thanks for the info.The taxonomic description has it maxing out at ~10", but 12-14" in aquaria are more common than not, and one guy on MFC had his up to 17-18". Cichla get big.
Plus those sizes have been debunked time and time again. There are many kels out there in the 20" range.

In the long run, it's probably fair to expect cichla to meet or exceed 18" as a baseline. We keep their water pristine, their food quality ideal, and their food delivery regular. We strive to, anyway.
