Here's a shot of the female in front and the male in back that shows a great representation of the differences in their spiny dorsal. The female's is spangled with bright gold while the male's is jet black.

The male's body however exhibits much greater spotting. The female's is nearly devoid of any.

The fins of both look great!!

Amazing looking pair. One remark if I may, reverse osmosis water is usually void of minerals, and you might want to add some (marine salt would do the trick, don't remember the right dosage).

I would absolutely reconstitute the RO water. I was simply saying that the RO is necessary for me because my tap water is liquid rock. I usually just add a gallon of tap water back into every 10 gallons of RO water and it does a great job of adding enough minerals and buffers to keep the pH stable while keeping the water very soft.

In my experience, jet black dorsal fins are indicative of breeding colors. My fingers are crossed for you bro!
