Are these the rio doce kels from rapps? If so they have turned out awesome :)

No these are "wild" kels from monster. These are most likely not wild though. I moved the Rio doces to another home. I really wasn't feeling them. 2 out of the 4 we're turning out really nice but every bass looked different and they started to form some weird characteristics. I was suspecting that they might have been hybrids of some sort or possibly from breeding brothers and sisters together? I'm not sure but as I kept looking at them, I just couldn't get passed it so I moved them on.

They look very similar to my trio that I got from Monster this past February.

Still waiting on those pics ;)

I purchased these around the end of June at about 3". They are fast growers and developers.

Wow! The xingu and kels look amazing! The others are nice too. I really like these kels because they don't have that bahia face and body shape and they have some of the best color out there. They are deffiantely going to be some stunners for sure. How big are your bass now?

Thanks,I have them eyeballed at between six and eight inches in length. One of the kels is definitely a solid eight inches as it is the greediest and best eater and at the other end of the spectrum is the smallest and thinnest kel which was the last one to finally take pellets. It has yet to catch up with the other two in terms of size and bulk.

Your bass look good. I prefer the more natural body shape obosed to the obese look.

Yeah I'm a lurker that loves cichla. I'll have to start up a thread/be more active lol. I've got a ~16" mono (locally received him so origins unknown) and a trio of kelbs sold to me as bahias from imperial tropical with the biggest pushing 18 inches. They aren't the prettiest but the personality is worth it!
