I like them both but for the price and the avail. of kens I go with them. Johns got great prices but you don't know when he'll have what you need. Kens makes their own so you know they will have it. and it's cheap lol

You buy it by the kilo from Johnptc, that will last unless your feeding a gigas.

for most. but I buy it for my big tank and my hybrid cat alone will eat more then a whole handfull at a time. I had to buy ten pounds the last time I got food and I hope it lasts me 6 months. but I dought it.

I guess it depends on what you feed and how much.

I am only feed about 50 inches of dovi, 4 fish, and about 40 inches of clown loaches, 6 fish..............

I am good for nearly a year, at least, for my three tanks after spending $35 there... You really can't beat that. My fish do not have a problem with the food, that's for sure.

Also, if you have fish that are practically addicted to FD bloodworms like my angels, you will love buying from there. I think it's like $6 for a 1/4 pound which = 4 oz.... I would spend about $5 on 0.4 oz (yes, zero point four ounces) from OSI.

My fish tear up Kens' Zero-carb cichlid food. When I want to catch a bunch of shrimp to feed or put in another tank I throw some of that food in and they came out of the wood work for it. My Africians come out of their rock work like mad for it. After trying Ken's, Hikari went from 1st to 2nd with me.

I suspended the use of Ken's Fish food and went back to 100% NLS.

I purchased 6lbs. (3 different types). Experience so far:
- The food has a bad odor. The premium Cichlid Color Pellets has a chemical smell; maybe too much vitamins added. The Soft & Moist w/ Krill just smells foul after awhile.
- Cichlid pellets sink too fast causing food to end up in the substrate. I don't think a single pellet of NLS has ever made it to the bottom of my tanks.
- Fish are not as "crazy" about it as NLS.
- Most troubling; I ended up loosing a couple fish in the two tanks, I was using it in, to a fungus like infection. Both tanks have been set up for years and had nothing added in about six months. The only change was the introduction of Ken's food. I highly suspect the 3mm Soft & Moist w/ Krill as it has Blood Meal as an ingredient. It must be refrigerated after opening (big PITA).

I really wanted this food to work for me because of the price.

not a single problem with his foods here either. ive ordered quite a few different foods from him, and everything seems to be top notch. you will save yourself a ton of money, and your fish will be equally as happy and healthy :)

Yep, i agree. I feed Hikari and Ken's to my fish. There wasn't any difference in color, or etc. like that. Only difference was the cost difference, I still love Hikari, but can't beat trying new things out on Ken's site with how cheap it is.

1. The soft and moist I doubt would last long. I mean if it's soft and moist type of food, do you really think it's going to last near as much as a pellet food.

2.Did you buy the sinking cichlid pellets? Some I'm sure sink while others don't. Maybe you didn't notice, IDK about NLS but does it float? If not, then doesn't make sense that it would sink slower? IDK, don't use NLS.

3.The fish are probaly not as crazy, have you looked at the ingredients. Ken's is a pretty good food, but doesn't even compete near NLS. Not that Ken's is a bad food, but compare the ingredients.

4.How is refigerating the Moist food a PITA. Do you not keep Frozen cubes of any kind or shrimp, blood worms, etc. If you keep any of these, then it's not anymore troublesome to keep the moist food in the fridge,

I'm just giving opinions, please don't reply negatively, their just opinions.:)
