I tried it with high hopes. I mixed a few drops with the shrimp and i added a few drops into the tank as well and to my surprise it didnt induce the want to eat. It did the opposite. Am i doing something wrong?

What are you trying to "fix" by using garlic?

I have never heard of it being used to increase appetite.

How big is the dat and what is it eating. How long long has it gone without food?

garlic was suppose to induce feeding.

The dats are 4-6". They have not eaten anything in my tank since the day i got them. I'm assuming there were on a feeder diet. I'm sorry to say but in my tank no feeders allowed. From discus to rays to piranhas to dats i've had in the past. Once you enter my tank there are strictly no feeders. Starve to death or eat what i give you. But as of lately my heard is not as soild. I have a soft spot. I don't like to see my fish all hungry and what not but i have to uphold my rule so thats the reason why i'm using garlic extreme. Some people swear by it so i thought i would give it a shot.

they can go for a little while without food. Try starting with krill and dragging it through the water with a fishing line to mimic a feeder. You can also THROW it into the water so it looks like it's taking off.

How long have they been without food?

the NGT will eat blood worm and 3 weeks is normal just keep offering him food small bits of prawn/shrimp

eat or die thats the rules in my tank

if you stop stressing yourself about it and just feed the tank daily then remove any un-eatern food they will eat

only a foolish fish would starve to death

My dats only go for krill once it hits the flow from my powerhead and takes off like a real fishy. Have you tried that or what Rally suggested?

crap my thin bars haven't eaten in like 2 months so you have nothing to worry about yet... there is no magic liquid to make them eat... one thing I used to do was putt them in small tank and offer live black worms then slowly switch to bloodworms(frozen)... I would offer live black worms for a lil bit

my dats are the same. when i first got my thinbar, it went like a month without 1 bit of food. slowly started taking krill or feeders. now it takes aro sticks but im tryin to move it on to hikari gold pellets.
