Killer Salvini and... What?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Honestly with the tank space you have you will have to upgrade to try any more fish. 2 fish left alone for to long equals a dead 1 or 1 having to be removed. If the salvinii is already dominant then the new fish will have to be just as determined. To settle that they will fight so the loser will be huddled in the corner as you saw happen already. Even if she does pair off with a male salvini spousal abuse may occur without some for the parents to focus on. Basicly I would leave her solo in the 30 of get another tank put a divider in & find someone to live with her. i agree if there were at least 3 fish that could create a standoff (where no 1 fish get the upper hand to become dominant) situation then the balance will prevent loss of life.

if you have the pair in the 75g that would be great for the two

Kind of leaves the ebjds homeless, though... :irked:

I don't know; maybe there is no answer that will work.

Yeah, I recognize that there are probably no good options here. If she would just be satisifed to be in charge in the 75g, everything would be fine. But no-o-o, SHE has to take sole custody of the whole darn tank!

I always used the method already mentioned,a large well stocked tank.

I've kept and bred Salvini for years and never have i kept a more aggressive fish but this can be remedied by introducing all the tankmates at the same time as juveniles.
My tank-busters were always males.

Your really left hanging with the 30,no place to run.
