Not sure if this is the right place to put this..
Anyway, I bought a pair of blur gularis last night and was just wondering if anyone has found if they prefer one substrate over another, decorations (drift wood or rocks) and also minimum tank size.
Thanks

they are on the top so they wont care, just get some long grass for them to spawn in
interested to see pix?

My local LFS owner is a crazy Killie breeder. He breeds some of the rarest and most expensive ever. He uses black and blue gravel, and both look beautiful. But I'd go for the black sand for the more natural look. And just as the above poster said, some long grasses would be nice as it gives them a place to breed.

well actually to breed the kind I have you need to place peat (or something like it) into the tank and when the eggs are laid the peat (including the eggs) needs to be removed and allowed to dry until the peat is just moist and kept in a cool dark place..once you see eye spots they can be placed back into a fry tank.

Also it does matter if a fish stays on top...depends how they eat...mine have been ok on the black fluorite so far...but I have other fish who like to sift through the sand with just their mouth for food

that is very unique! looking forward to some pix :D

crappy pic but you get the idea!
