I was wondering if anyone on here has ever made or know of some sort of kill switch?

for example, I am worried my PVC overflow might loose siphon while im not noticing, and i dont want to have to clean up a huge puddle.

I figured someone might use the Toilet idea, where thr float valve only goes so high before it stop and shuts down everything.

Does anybody know what im talking about?

I think i have a cheater way in mind, but its risking the life of my pump .__.

basically cut the cable open, expose a cable, hoot it up with the float, have it at a certain level where its normal for inside the tank and the cable points making contact, as the float rises, the cable looses contact?

A better way would to use a relay. Run power to the float which powers the relay then connect the pump on the normally open contacts so that when the float is at operating height the contacts are closed and the pump runs but when the level drops the switch opens to de-energize the coil on the relay and opens the contacts going to the pump.

just use a pvc check valve above the pump so the water cant flow back down in a power outtage.

I dont think i made my self clear really.

I dont have to worry about my Sump overflowing. I want to prevent any of my other tanks from doing it! It has been 4 times that my 1 of my 6 overflows has lost prime and overflowed. This morning was the worst... My sump was almost half empty!

A properly set up overflow, such as the bean-animal design should fix all issues related to gravity and power outages ;).
