Most likely a cross, but enjoy your fish, I consider the midevils to be the 'best of both worlds' combining the size and bulk of a midas with the sheer savage aggression of a red devil. I had a hybrid and he was my favourite fish. Plus 'hybrid vigour' means he'll probably grow bigger (and faster) than a pure. In the end, unless you are breeding, it just doesnt matter. Enjoy your fish
 
It looks Red Devil to me.... it was sold to you as a RD, no?? If I were you, I would call it a RD, but as already explained, it is very possible to be a cross, so Midevil works fine too. Nice fish and thanks for sharing!!
 
Thanks everyone. He has a high level of personality.always at the glass looking at me looking at him ,acts goofy at times . really enjoying this guy.

Midevil unless bought from a reputable source. Red devil is "technically" ampilophus labiatus. It's cool though I have a midevil as well. One of my favorites

Lol.

I call my midevil a red devil. I honesty believe I'm the only person in my area that knows what a midevil is. Or the deference's between Midas and red devil. So... It was sold to me as red devil, red devil it is haha.

This makes a lot more sense to me than getting worked up over it. If anyone you would identify with would look at it and call it a red devil then its probably the best route. Calling is a midevil will just make things more confusing than they need to be.
