cichlid city
anybody think its kinda awkwared that reddevil and midas are apearing everywhere in hawaii.I was looking it up and it seems like they are now a popular freshwater fish in some lake wilson. It seems like people are dumping them from the aquarium into freshwater ponds.I think its kinda wrong and at the same time kinda neat because if rd are not native there but wouldent it be kind of kool to go down to a lake and see some huge 14 inch devil swim up to u.

heres one that was supposedly caught there

It's the same way in Florida. As long as the water stays warm the fish can survive. I have plecos, texas cichlids, and tilapia in a drainage ditch behind my house. There have been convicts in the summers, however they usually die off in the winter.

Yeah, they are everywhere here in FL. Fish usually look alot nicer when kept outside. I'm sure alot of it has to do with the varied diet they get and it probably has something to do with the strong sunlight too. The only bad thing is that these fish really screw up the local fish populations.

those are some nice devils...

in nyc the only FW lakes are in central park, and you can fish only 2 of them
in one, the water is crystal clean, i caught 12 oscars there last summer, they were huge..
i with they would stock peacock bass :D

I just wanna go down to florida, catch a pair and stock them in huge tank:headbang2.I wonder if their wild colors would fade away. The only moster fish in ohio would be a northern pike, or a bass:ROFL:

Even though Lake Wilson is a man-made reservoir, you of course should never release your aquarium fish into the wild.

However, they imply here, http://www.hawaiibassfishing.com/default.asp?nc=5038&id=3
that the red devils (as well as peacock bass) are actually stocked! I couldn't find out if this is really managed by their DNR or what. Looks like some aquarium fish have been released there like pacu.
