Im quite tempted to say its a very stressed out Stars and stripes puffer, which is actually a S/W puffer, not a freshwater species...

yes, they're calling it patoca, but actually its not even a described specie. from India for sure. brackish fish.

So its a new(er) species of puffer then, related or similar to Milk spotted puffer???
 
Thanks guys for your reply to my posting I m very curious to know more about the above fish as the LFS cant provide me with any information regarding this new breed puffer for sale in his shop.Looking forward for any more solid contribution to this mysterious puffer.A Big Thank You To All Members who spent time to answer my question in this posting.
 
Ah yes, I posted a puffer ID of same fish a few months back. It seems that the experts here has weighed in on this topic. The ones that are available here are all kept in full FW. Whether or not this is good for the fish, I can't comment. I do know they have been healthy and fine for the past few months in full FW though. Very interesting looking puffer IMO.
