King Kong parrots/ blood parrots

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i have 6 BPs with my oscar and all are doing fine. I threw in some rosey red for christmas and the bps ate them so they can eat fish. I feed mine cichlid pellets, frozen and freeze dry krill and bloodworms, raw catfish when we cook fish and hikari carnivore pellets.

I have 3 BP and for the first time I gave them live minos, I had been giving them ghost shrimp and those are gone usually within an hour. With the minos (15) they didn't seem interested the first 3 days but I came home yestarday and there where only 2 left so I'm definetly sure that they can eat other fish.

BP can catch small fishes such as guppies and neons & gobble them up. Just because they cant close the mouth, doesnt means they cant catch the small fishes.

my king kongs have def eaten "fish" but as other said all over these forums.....dont feed your cichlids live fish unless you know where they come from ......care for your fish.
also worms/superworms etc

I know many don't really like parrots... but I have grown to love them. Also, didn't like them at first because of the fact that they can't close their mouths. Keeping blood parrots are King Kong Parrots are definitely great because they have so much personality. My parrots would always be together and bump each other on their sides. I have kept many cichlids but never enjoyed them as I do with parrots, I say this because they are just full of personality...

Here are a few pix of my parrots. I currently have 2 blood parrots and 1 prized king kong parrot.

I got a HK parrot just recently, 'she' is eating flake food, small pellets and spirulina sticks. She can close her mouth no problem, she likes blood worms for a treat and will eat romaine and zuchini. Very tame, we hand feed her.
