If you can get them to breed you will get babies, I have seen flowerhorn, and other amphilophus cross with them so it should work but as for compatibility its hit or miss.

UPDATE........ there doin great i pull the divider for a few hours a day

he doesnt try to kill her and he stops everytime he goes to bite her....

they just chilled out side by side....
