Most of the fish will come out more Flowerhorn shaped, with a some being odd body, and very few true Kirin. It is possible to get Kirin from F1 breeding but if you want baches with more Kirin you will have to do a little line breeding.

Looks like they were getting ready to lay around 2am but I had to turn the light off so I could sleep lol. Might have missed my change again because now they seem not as ready :\
Heyya, Chris, just wanted to thank for posting this thread. I saw some nicely notched and patterned kirins at my LFS a few weeks ago, had great colors similar to your courting male. I was curious about them, but sadly they were gone by the time I decided to pull the trigger on them, and have asked the owner to try shipping in some more from his wholesaler.

I need to separate the females from the group. Everytime they are about to spawn its like 3 in the morning and I have to turn the lights out. So either the female isn't laying or they are eating them before I can see them which I don't think is the case.
Just reintroduced my pair to each other after about a month apart. Will see if they finally spawn. Pics later.
Got back from the NW MFK meet to find my Kirins have finally spawned. Will update as the eggs progress, fingers crossed.
