Okay I've just ordered one pump (it's a dual-head pump, 3170 gph model) and four large cylinder air stones to add to increase the flow. Figured I'd see what the one pump does to start, and will order a second one for the other end of the tank if needed.

They do seem to calm fish and make them burn up excess energy. Some fish seem to just relax. My oscar and one of my parrots will just sit in the flow while it blasts over them. My parrot Boss can sit under the filter overflow/powerhead 'criss cross' for hours with his face turned up and fins flapping.

No behavioral issues with Kismet - he/she has been living alone in the 135gal for a year now with no intentions of ever adding in other tank mates of any kind. Will see if there's a growth spurt in the near future though lol.
