knife fish aggresive!?!?! help!!!

CLOWN KNIFE

hey guys my sting ray has a nasty gash by its tail and i think it was this knife fish that i bought for 55 bucks and its been in the tank for only a few hour?????
i thought knife fish where not aggressive to fish that dont fit in there mouth? why could this be? is it because it has hungry? i am now selling this fish because i really love my stingray and i dont want him to die from attacks from the knife fish im kind of mad i wanna keep the knife fish but should i?
 
I hear the can be aggro regardless if they can fit tankmates in their mouths. By gash do you mean a long cut? I don't think Clowns do that. Did you see it happen. Is there any decor in the tank.
 
NOOO ITS ROUND like the bite its roundish looks like a bite and no other fish have teeth to bite him in my tank and no not much shark decor
 
round? By any chance is there another stingray in the tank? I heard of when stingrays breed they leave bite marks on the mate (round bite marks). Try rearranging the decor and see if the knife calms down, if not then sell the clown knife

no only one ray and a water cow, a rhino pleco and thats it and of course the knife and i will its so pretty :( shame should i try again? with another one?
 
post a pic. The pleco could have done it. was it perfectly round? I would wait a week or so before selling.
