It was hard to find out any info on it. It was sold to me as a Centipede Knife, but when i finally got a look at it, I relized thats not what it was. i had to ask for help from a frined who has had tons of experience with Knife fish, and all I knew was that it was related to the Glass Knife (Similiar characteristics). And thats when we found out that it was a Eigenmannia humboldtii. Very little info on it. All I know is that it gets to be 12 inches+. i know what your talking about trying to find information on rare knives.. i went through alot trying to find info on this guy...but i finally talked to a professor of miami college who gave me ID... unfortunatly i lost him after 6 months... from the wild he had a bacterial infection.. and very difficult to treat fragile knife as this one..:(View attachment 380377Brachyhypopomus Brevirostris..is the species.

Sorry about the loss. It looks like a very nice species of Knife though.

Thanks he was really sweet.... and i loved having him because he was so different... good luck to you...

Just got the Centipede Knife and Zebra Knife today. The only issue is that the Zebra is missing one fin, and his top jaw seems to be much smaller than his bottom jaw. Is this normal?
Anyway, here are the pics.
Zebra Knife fish. (Wasn't happy that I took away his hiding spot for pictures)

And the Centipede Knife.

lol, playing dead.

Thanks.

I was able to move the E. humboldtii Knife back into the 60-Gallon. The fish that was nipping at his tail was the Sunfish (Caught him one night while I stayed up watching the tank seeing who was bothering him). The BGK and the E. humboltii still are aggressive towards each other, but its nothing bad. Just a little push at eachother once in a while, thats all. I added more hiding spots for the E. humboldtii, so he doesn't bother the BGK as much as before.

I just caught the Zebra Knife trying to eat a feeder fish, but the feeder was to large, so he didn't end up swallowing it. But I still got it on tape. I have never seen him eat before, but the smaller feeders that I usually put into the tank at night are gone by morning. I'll post the video later on in the Video section.
