I know of two people breeding BGK's in Perth, Western Australia. Will try get some pics upof fry for you.

Has also been done over east to my knowledge. It has certainly been done many times before.

Thanks! Do you know these people personally, and/or have you seen their set-up?

I know one of them personally. used to sell him quite a few fish, never saw his setup though. Just photos.

Seems it has been done many times before.

That thread was made because the bloke that spawned the fish refused to give away information to the general public (forums).

You seem to be very quick and doubtful of people breeding this species. Almost wanting the species to be harder breed than it is.

I have seen the fish no hoax.... sorry this isn't big foot!

No hoax I too know Shane (Benckie) and it is a very old post but all the pics were there to see. The other post was just another dude complaing he got no info from the thread.

Please guys. Let's not start this battle again... Some people just have a knack for breeding BGk's. Can't we just admire them for it and not be so quick to disbelieve? Obviously it IS possible or they would be alot more exspensive in the shops!!

It was responses just like these that kept Shane (Benckie) from publishing any info. I have no doubt that the BGK bred for him - the image of the male and female I posted were his. He also had pictures of fry under 1 inch. He is the one who gave me advice on raising my BGK when I first got him. All of his advice was logical, straight forward, and worked like a charm. I have a very healthy 11 inch BGK due to his advice.

He loves his fish and watched them very carefully. He picked 2 BGK based on his observations and they mated, laid eggs, and the fry hatched.

To my way of thinking.... he was on to something. He just got very, very fed up with all of the 'no way... can't be bred in captivity... prove it' comments from a few people.

Just how much proof is enough? I would think that having fry in the tank would be proof enough.

I am still not sure why this is such a "hot topic". I for one would really like to see it die down. Isn't there something else we could all talk about... and maybe agree on?

You're right, it just seems to KEEP getting brought up. I vow to ignore it from now on, until the time that there is someone on here that I can congratulate for their accomplishment. I hope that the information I posted about breeding other species of knife fish will be of some help to anyone who is attempting.

good luck im interested to here how you do
