That's an injury from the catfish I reckon.. Popeye or Cloudy eye is usually from poor water quality and looks a bit different.

is it safe to treat it with another medication along with the melafix just to be on the safe side? and if so, with what?

Yes melafix and pimafix are made by same company and made to be used in conjunction with each other.

Another added bonus is that they are all natural so don't kill your filter's good bacteria.

Or you can forgo those two, and just use one stronger antibiotic.

Just as a note It is possible that that eye will not heal. and depending on the damage to the optical nerve, he may not see or have function at all of that eye. It may also be completely gone if there isn't enough blood flow to sustain the eye.

A full recovery is possible as well ..Its just hard to tell at this point.

what would be a suggested stronger antibiotic? and from what i understand ck's have terrible eyesight and all so IF at worst case scenario he loses that eye or becomes blind he should be fine. Hes still eating and all, I just dont want to save the eye IF at all possible or at least try and I definetly dont want this to eventually kill him...

I borrowed this from beblondie's list from the polypterus site I post on. She is very knowledgeable.

ANTIBIOTICS
Keep at least one on hand.dissolve in a small cup of tank water before
adding to the tank.
Maracyn-1
maracyn-2
Formalin
Oxytetracyline
Erythromycin
Triple Sulfa
Minocycline
furan 2
melafix (best used as a preventitive not a cure)
pimafix (best used as a preventitive not a cure)

P.S. Remember to dose him as a scaless fish.

Yeah alot of them do ok with only one eye.
