For Twisted (2,000+ w/your posts) & Brad (w/your 191 posts)...
Since ,"Many on MFK/any forum will steer you wrong"
Which side are you on? The informative side or the guessing side.
B4 you guys get postal. I agree to a point as well. However for the most part, the MFK elite will not tell you wrong stuff. Why would we congregate around BS posts/stories. Which of course should be looked into further on your own time. I was just trying to get some of our ignorant members to not be so ignorant. NO Beef..Turkeys:grinno:
did i make 20 posts yet...<----SUPASTAR in the making

I would like to think of myself on the informative side of things, but i also try to avoid giving advice on things i havent researched and had personal experience with.

When you mention the MFK elite will not tell you wrong stuff, its very true. "MFK Elite" are the people that put stickies together which alot of people just dont utilize. I also think that alot of the people that have alot of experience and have been here a long time (aka not me) get tired of seeing the same questions over and over and are less likely to post in the new threads when they already went to the effort of a great and informative sticky. I know that last statement is a generalization and isn't always true, but more of an observation and personal thought.

Instead of saying "When you dont know, ask a question" you should be telling people "When you dont know, use the search function and read the stickies". There are a ridiculous number of simple, extremely repetitive new threads daily that could be answered so easily if the people making new topics put in any effort. I dont know if they are just trying to raise their post counts (which dont mean a thing IMO) or if they need a 10th opinion.

I agree with this also, which is why the stickies are so valuable.

I disagree somewhat on this, because sometimes if I have question I want to hear people's opinions/answers not only based on their own experience, but on how it applies to my particular situation. Let's say I'm thinking of getting my first datnoid and I want to know more about compatibility with other fish, lets say, with some of my new world cichlids, and I provide a stocklist and tank specs. I would feel better hearing people's opinions regarding my situation rather than a post from 2007 with general info on tankmates for dats.

I agree with what you are saying and its very understandable to make a new thread to ease your worries and get opinions. I am talking more about the thread that are like "What do i feed my dat" or "Can i keep a Silver Arrow in a 75 for life" that have been beaten to death and doesnt need a ton of threads about it when a quick check of stickies and searching will give you all the info you need.

Good thoughts, but we're beating a dead horse here.

I leave this one the best note stated in this thread.

Research, research, research and when your done with that, research some more.
