I always look at monsters like aro's and rays etc..
But I would love to have a good size tank with some decent sized cichlids in it.

I'd put peacock bass and bichirs in there. And maybe some datnoids or widebar silver dollars too. That way you get all 3 levels of the water filled up and the widebar SDs would provide nice movement in the tank.

Do you want a more aggressive tank or more of a calm tank? I think it would be nice to have a schooling fish in there, with maybe a couple other varieties. Maybe a school of angel fish, a school of cory cats, some congo tetras, etc. Personally I would do a group of green terrors with some pictus cats and opaline gouramis.

You could leave it bare, less maintence. LOL seriously thogh, I like the schooling fish idea. I think it would look nice with alot of smaller schooling fish, get alot of movement out of the different schools. or a hand full of medium sized fish like oscar's.

All great suggestions...

I think Oscars might be in the lead right now....

large
active
personable
recognizable to non-fish people
several color morphs to choose from

... but still undecided.
I think I need to do some shop hopping today and see what is available locally.

Keep the suggestions coming!

Yeah but Oscars are so common too. If you're gonna spend all that money on a big tank, why not get something a little out of the ordinary that most of your guests haven't seen before?

good point, but common never bothers me.... The main thing for me is to be able to stare at the tank and have it hold my interest.
