OK...

I'm a teacher and experianced fishkeeper. My classroom is full of tanks, and they are spreading throughout the school.

This year I would like to do something eye catching with my 180 that currently houses large cichlids in a bare bottom tank. This tank is the first one noticed when people enter the room and I want it to have a wow factor. I'm sure I could come up with a plan all by myself, but I figure sharing the fun with some MFK members might be nice.

please remember this is in a classroom in Florida so nothing dangerous, skiddish (like a giant ID shark that bashes around in the middle of class), or Illegal in Florida will work.

I am happy to keep a bare tank, but would also be happy for something that would allow for aquascaping.

currently the room holds a 2.5g planted neon tank, a 12x10g rack (to be filled this fall), 70g reef tank, 180g (subject of current thread), 125g rift lake cichlids, 65g planted.

now, let the fun begin and the ideas fly.....

As usual, I say a big shoal of Clown, Polka Dot & Yoyo Loaches. Add a big SA Cichlid or 2 & try to keep the kids from staring at it all day!

You could go with 10 angelfish, a school of cardinal and rummy nose tetras, a dozen cories, a couple of bristlenose plecos, then some dwarf cichlids. Then you could also aquascape the tank with this option.

Maybe discus? Maybe a huge oddball setup? Fire eel, bichirs, hujeta gars, huge giant danios, knifefish..

Maybe a single lungfish?

Im a kid (im 11..) and I love these types of fish..I keep discus :D

a definate consideration ... maybe a clown knife

I say a breeding pair of Dovii, it could be cool, yet informational for when they breed. :D. And dang, I wish my techer would get a 180, all we have is a 16 Gal. with stupid goldfish!...Luckly I'm graduating this next year and won't have to sit in her class much longer haha.
