Maybe you guys should stop suggesting things that will outgrow the tank. Cichla, clown knife, aros, etc all get too big.

I would make it a geophagus tank, something that will breed fairly easily and also be entertaining to watch.

I completly agree on the geos. I am pretty much building my 225 around geos. The main reason being because my kids love to watch them and it keeps them involved in the hobby with me. I would also go with a fancy pleco of some sort. :D

I agree with going native.....you could put some warmouth with some madtoms (or a bulhead, or how about some rebreasts and everglades pygmy sunnies!

I decided to go with Invasives. All collected fish. So far I have midas, Oscar, and jaguars to be added this week. Will likely also add salvini. May also add some nice myans.

Cichla are also an option, but only if I can ween them off live foods.

Anyway, here is a FTS (no fish) to show the aquascaping.

my highschool science teacher had a small alligator in his classrom tank. It caught all of our attention at feeding time. The one problem with gators is that they tend to SIT in one spot all day and barely move, but the novelty of having a gator in clss was kind of cool. I'd suggest you turn your 180 into a RBP tank. Place asmall shoal of 6. your students will love them.
