koi health questions

under a bridge in fl
got some new koi about 2 weeks ago
just noticed a few have white stuff on the tips of the fins.
not ich,like a fuzz or something like that and just on the tips.

they are butterfly koi,are butterfly koi more sensitive then regular koi?

and ive never added salt to my pond
should i?
just aquarium salt if yes?
i seen some pond salt in stores,is it different?

pond is 150g with mostly small fish and lots of filtration and air.

its hard to tell :irked:
just can tell theres white on the tips of the fins a bit.
not sure on a bully
it looks like its just the butterflies
 
Pond salt is the same as aquarium salt. It sound like you have a bit of fin rot starting. This can be fungal but is usually bacterial in origin.
Before treating though check your pH and temp. as rapid fluctuations in either can cause this. Furanase, tmp sulfa or Maracyn plus are all good meds for treating fin rot, jungle's fungus clear also works.
 
Sounds it might be the beginning of finrot, that stuff is very deadly on koi if it goes untreated. I recommend potassium permanganate. just be careful with it, you can wipe out all your fish easily.
 
Pottasium permanganate is an old and effective treatment for pond fish, just be aware that it stains badly.
 
so i should get meds then
i know you listed a bunch but what would be best for me?
i dont want a stainer tho lol
or one that might hurt koi
and temp changes everyday,its fl air temp 80's day 60's night and i dont really test ph
this is the 2nd try at butterflies in this pond
first time im not sure what killed them.
might have been bullies but i think i got them all out now.
i might try for some pix tonight
 
PP is bad if your overdose it. Other than that, no complaints from me. But it does stain your clothes and your skin. It will last a good day on your hands before coming off.

Another option is putting PP directly on the fish or the fins. I've done this many times with good results, even with ulcers. Take the fish and rinse of the infected area with hydrogen peroxide. Then, put some PP on a cotton swab and rub it on the fish.

Repeat this every other day then stop when it looks like its starting to heal. Its takes a lot of work, but is effective for treating an otherwise deadly disease...
