Koi stolen in NJ

I believe the cost they are listing is the replacement value for insurance. Big koi can be very pricey to replace depending on their size. I highly doubt that she paid $4500 for each of her koi.

that, who knows. i wonder if this would be covered by home owner's insurance. hope she has pics of each and every fish so she can get them appraised. or better yet, receipts if they were recent purchases

It does not indicate it in the story(which is extremely brief), but how do they know the fish were actually STOLEN? How do they know that a hungry mob of herons didn't descend on this pond? I would be interested to know where the evidence is that proves/disproves this was an actual theft.

To steal 15 fully grown and mature Koi's, it's going to take at least 15 minutes to fish them out and move them to the truck, it has to be somebody that seen the koi's before and knew the value of them. She probably got them when they were small and I don't think she would have paid $4500 each when they were small. I always wanted Koi pond....
