Korbia xinguensis question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The first cichlid has been removed from the equation entirely as a friend wanted it as a centerpiece fish for his tank with mostly larger tetras.

That leaves 4 K. xinguensus in the 75 with the rasboras. Is this a good number or should I try to increase/decrease?

Yes, I realize the rasbora would not occur with the K. xinguenis in the wild. However, I really dislike the behavior of tetras that are large enough not to get eaten and don't keep them any more. These particular rasbora are the complete opposite of larger tetra so I am keeping them. As much as I appreciate biotope tanks, I don't find tanks with larger tetras calming and peaceful to watch.

I have 5 adults in tap in a 120 with some angels i was growing out. My tap is gh 3 kh 7. They have bred twice in 6 weeks. The first time they raised the frys for about 3 weeks the 2nd time the eggs didn't hatch. The aquarium is a holding tank till i decide what to do with them. I was going to put them in my geo tank with rummy but they ate 4 of the 8 cardinals i had in the holding tank in 4 hours; i moved the other 4 out and un-decided what to do with them. They are like all mouth. I think they are a bit fat (they were purchased fat) and they don't have the best colouring - well not as nice as the pictures earlier in this thread. I consider them bulky monsters that will eat anything they can get. I'm keeping at 80. The fellow i purchased them from lives in florida and he wanted to get rid of them - he said they were f3 or f4 and he had them breeding - his water was nice hard florida water so they are in softer water now. Anyway I haven't had htem long enough to say much other than i can't keep them with cardinals or rummy and the 5 of them get along when they aren't breeding. Oh and they didn't beat up my angels too badly when they had frys - they just signal 'better keep away' and the angels stayed away.

That's all i have to say so far about this species.

That sounds like a good idea.. I think 4 could work in a 75.. Hopefully you get lucky and have 2 pairs...
